the Oonagh Jeffrey room
A flight of stairs from the main vestibule leads to the attractive and intimate committee room. A stairlift makes this room accessible to anyone unable to climb the stairs.
This room is completely self-contained and its users will be completely undisturbed by any activities in the main hall, if both facilities are in use at the same time.
Meetings and social occasions for up to 30 can be accommodated in comfort. The room is large enough to offer many seating arrangements: rows, a large circle, or several arcs of seating are all possible.
It can also be laid out, as shown here, as an exclusive and attractive board room for meetings of up to fourteen, with high-quality furnishings that are appreciated by business users.
There is a small kitchen attached and for the exclusive use of groups using this room. It is ideal for preparing hot drinks and setting out light refreshments. Tea and coffee making equipment, coffee mugs and an extensive set of fine china are all provided for the exclusive use of those using the Oonagh Jeffrey room.
The stairlift is of the type with a swivelling seat, adjustable armrest and safetey belt and is easy to operate. It does not convey wheelchairs, and wheelchair users will need to transfer to the seat, and have their chair carried upstairs. At the top, the seat swivels round, to make it easier to get on and off. A key to operate the stairlift is provided to hirers, along with the keys to the room.
This room is a fitting memorial to the late Oonagh Jeffrey, a popular and much loved resident of Grayswood. Her family were extremely generous benefactors to the Grayswood Millennium Hall appeal when it became apparent that construction costs were rising and additional funding would be required. Their generous gifts included funding the acoustic work found necessary in the main hall.
